Faced with an hour to yourself (perhaps a problem you don’t often have), what do you do with free time?

FaceTime a friend or go on a long walk with a family member or close friend!

What is the thing you bought in the last three months that you have most enjoyed?

Bala wrist weights for my long walks or my Beyond Yoga maternity bike shorts. I love that these come up over your belly! So comfy!

What’s the last song you listened to?

"When The Stars Come Out” by Chris Stapleton. This might be a bit ambitious with a baby due the first week of September, but we just booked tickets for his upcoming concert at MSG in early Fall with a few other couples. This will be our first night away from the baby! Let’s see if I can actually stick to that plan.

Did you learn anything new in the last 12 months that has surprised you?

Not to sweat the small stuff and to have a sense of humor. We have lived between my parents house and mother-in-law’s house for over a year and a half. Finally moving into our own home (own space) this week and I could not be more excited for this next chapter. As much as the last year or so has been very different than we ever expected, I feel so lucky and blessed to have such a close family that was able to host us during a big home renovation and move.

What is a parenting quality you admire in one of your parents, friends of siblings that you’d like to emulate when you become a mother?

To love unconditionally and be a good listener. I have the most incredible relationship and role model in my mom and cannot wait to have a built in best friend with my little girl to be.

2020 has dealt us all with lots of challenges - what was a low moment in 2020 and how did you overcome or face it?

Working remotely for the first time in my career was definitely a challenge at first. I love what I do and styling clients in person was one of my favorite aspects of my job pre-Covid. Luckily my company quickly pivoted in an all digital direction, but not seeing my colleagues and clients on a daily basis was a huge change. I cannot wait for more in person appointments and events to start up again in a post-Covid world.

What are you most looking forward to in a post-vaccine world? What bar, restaurant, or place are you most eager to visit?

Going on safari in South Africa with my husband. This trip was planned for 2020 as a delayed honeymoon and due to the pandemic we of course, had to postpone. In general, I could not be more excited to travel again without fear of contracting the virus. So many places I want to go!

Do you believe in setting personal goals? If so, how do you hold yourself accountable to them?

I am a huge believer in goal setting. I use Trello and send myself calendar invites on the daily. I definitely look to my husband and sister to hold me accountable. Keeping a notebook next to my bed also helps! All about a daily to-do list and checking off the boxes.

How important is community to you, and how do you go about building and nurturing it for your family?

Community is super important to both me and my husband. We are super close with our family and make every effort to spend time with our loved ones. Our friends that are family are also a huge part of our lives and I cannot wait for our friend’s children to grow up with our soon to be kids. We are moving back to where I grew up and during such an unsettling time it’s very comforting to have that familiarity. As I become a new mom, I have also entered into this new community of women who are so supportive and encouraging of this new chapter I am about to embark on. It’s really nice to reconnect with old friends and new ones who can totally relate to everything I am going through and can help guide me as I navigate through these uncharted waters. I feel so lucky to have such a great community of strong women in my circle!Shop Samantha's Look: Peter Pan Collar Dress
