CLARY BOSBYSHELL WELSH
  Founder, Clary Bosbyshell Design

The kids are down, your work is done - how do you spend your “me” time, when you get it?

I enjoy taking a hot bath and reading shelter magazines and books.

What is the thing you bought in the last three months that you have most enjoyed?

I bought a white Loewe straw bag and I just adore it! Not only is it chic but it holds everything from my calendar to client samples!

What is the quality you most like in yourself as a mother?

I am very patient and when I am spending time with my son Rayfe I put my phone away to focus just on him.

What’s the quality you most like in one or all of your children that they did not inherit from you?

Rayfe and I actually have very similar personalities, we are both extroverts and very outgoing. His teachers year after year compliment what a leader he is in the classroom and always has a smile on his face. I am a proud Mommy!

What’s the other career you’d most like to try out, given a second professional life?

I would love to own a linen and china shop. I just adore tablescaping, linens, and china!

Is there anything that quarantine forced you to change that you would like to - or will - maintain post quarantine?

I have added E-design as part of my design services. I have really enjoyed it and will continue to take online long-distance clients.

What are the nicest things your partner does for you, and you for them?

My husband Graham really is the kindest and best person I know. Men, just like women need building up and words of affirmation. We both do this very well for each other. We are each other's biggest cheerleaders!

How important is routine to you? What parts of your routine are sacrosanct?

Routine is very important to me; I am a very organized and scheduled person. I make our beds every morning, I think it's important to keep Rayfe on a routine as well. It makes everyone happier!

What are your professional goals and how do you go about achieving them?

In the last two years I have accomplished many of my professional goals; After working with my mom, Margaret Bosbyshell, at Margaux Interiors Limited, I started my own firm in 2019. I was named a 2020 House Beautiful Next Wave designer. Every January I set new goals for myself professionally and work towards them throughout the year. In 2021 I would love to collaborate with a fabric house on a textile line and wallpaper line.

What are the things that make your home personal to you and your family?

I am a big believer that a home is collected and decorated over time. There are many antiques that have been passed down to me from my family that are really special to me. I also collect antique blue and white porcelain.

How important is community to you, and how do you go about building and nurturing it for your family?

Community is very important to our family. We are instilling in Rayfe the importance of this and why you need to give back.

What maternity style or clothing item could you not find this time around that you most wish FH would create?

More poplin dresses, being the most pregnant in the summer, a dress that I can wash that is cool and easy to throw on!
